Our Mission
The Gift of Giving Store is about empowerment and appreciation. We set up a pop up store"store" at various domestic abuse centers, where children can shop for gifts for their Mothers without a monetary cost. Instead, prices are paid with declarations of self-love—children list things they appreciate about themselves, their proudest moments, or what they are grateful for. These heartfelt "payments" are recorded on fancy receipts that accompany the gifts, allowing Mothers to see the beautiful thoughts their children have shared.
How the Gift of Giving Store Works
1. Selection of Gifts: Children visit our temporary pop-up store set up at their shelter or center, where they can browse a variety of gifts and choose something special for their Mothers.
2. Heartfelt Payments: Instead of paying with money, children write down positive affirmations about themselves, their proudest moments, or things they are grateful for. These affirmations are recorded on elegant receipts.
3. Self-Affirmation Station: At the cashier station, children select a sticker and to pay the “tax” on their gift they recite their affirmation in front of a mirror, fostering a sense of pride and self-worth. The children also select a coupon for their Mothers from the coupon tree which contain promises for their Mothers.
4. Beautiful Packaging: The chosen gift is then beautifully packaged by the child, ready to brighten their Mother's day.

This process not only gives the children a sense of pride and agency but also brings a sense of recognition and humanity to the mothers, celebrating them in a personal and meaningful way.
